First full week

This will be the first full week of classes for the semester. I'm actually pretty excited this time around! I know it will be tough and involve a lot of intense analysis and write-ups, but I'll get a first-hand look at what it is like to be a fieldworker and researcher. I've had just two classes so far - a religious studies class and my field methods class. I'm looking forward to having the other three on Monday. I'll report on how they go later.

I went to church this morning. It was actually pretty great. The church is affiliated with a pentecostal-like denomination, so it was easy to get excited about worship and the message. I hope to go there regularly and to not get stuck in excuses of too much homework.

The socializing thing is going pretty well so far! I've been to a couple of get-togethers already, including one very fun linguistics study party! It was great to hang out with like-minded people reviewing relevant topics to begin the year with. There is an event tomorrow night for those in apartments, so I'll get to see a few more people. On Tuesday night, there's an event called EXPO where all the clubs and groups host booths and we can go see where we can get involved and sign up. A friend of mine is hosting a Bible study on Colossians, and I'm considering going to that. I know that while my tendency is to be somewhat anti-social and I need to become more social, I have to also be careful not to flip to the other extreme and neglect my responsibilities. So, it will be an interesting balancing act.

Looking forward to this next week! :D
