Well, it's that time of year again - school time! I'm back at TWU and have unpacked all my stuff and made the place look homey. That's one thing that I never tried to do last year. I suppose I felt like I was going to be here only a short time before, so I shouldn't get too attached. This year I have a new strategy: Make this my home. I'm going to be active in widening my circle of friends and making this space my new place of comfort. After all, this experience is mine to make.
I think I'm going to enjoy this semester. The three linguistics classes I'm taking are integrative. In one class, I learn a language and culture from a native speaker, in another I learn how to see the syntax and semantics of that language, and in another I learn how to use software to help me analyze it. This will be hands-on work with data, and that's exactly what I've been waiting for!
Classes start tomorrow, so I'll keep you updated!
