Philosophical Considerations...
One great thing about a Christian university is the chance to have deep philosophical conversations about God. The other day a couple girls in my dorm were talking about different ideas and we discovered one line of thought where the guy believed he must talk about God in the negative. For example: God does not hold my sin against me - rather than God forgives me. It sounds strange at first, but when I thought about it more, it kind-of makes sense. Since God is so holy and so unfathomable, how can we declare what God is? Even if we capture one characteristic, we will miss the rest. And God is almighty - who are we to suggest that we understand Him? Of course, this philosophy doesn't exactly line up with Scripture because the Bible talks about God in the positive all the time: God is love etc. But what a thought - God is so beyond our imagination and has so many parts to His character, we could never begin to define Him!
