I have arrived in Venezuela! After a few delays and one bag left in a previous city, I met my cousin at 3am on Sunday morning! It was a very long day, but I am so excited to be here at last! Thank you for praying for my safety in travel, and thanks be to God for being with me!
I have had a chance to catch up on my sleep and my bag should be coming today. I will be staying at my cousins' place for a night or two more, then I'll head over to my new family's house. My hostess' name is L, and I'm very excited to meet her and her daughter! I may have a translator when I meet them, so that there will be no misunderstandings of what is expected of me, and how everything is going to work. If you could remember this in your prayers.
My Spanish school will start on Wednesday and that will start my new routine for the next three months. Please pray that I will be able to pick up the language quickly and that I would gain confidence in using it.
Yesterday I went to my cousins' church and I was surrounded by Spanish once again. It was great! I was surprised (and so grateful) how much the language came back to me, and that I could understand most of the message! :) It was about Dueteronomy 8, where the Israelites became proud and forgot all the things God had done for them (again!). God is the only one who has the ability to provide for us, and God is faithful to the covenant He has made to His people. He will look after us and guide us, and we are to be thankful to Him for it. This was a great start to this trip for me, because it is so easy for me to just go on with life and forget the One who is always watching out for me. God is the one who sustains me, and without Him I would be absolutely nothing! Praise God for His provision and never-failing faithfulness to us, His children!! There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that could ever convince God to break His covenant of love with us, and He will never simply forget about us. What a privilege we have to be in that kind of relationship with the Lord of all!!!
Thanks so much for your prayers and support in various ways! It means so much to me to know that you are behind me in mind and spirit. Feel free to email me anytime! I am only a quick bus ride away from our YWAM office, where I can use the Internet anytime. Keep in touch! :)
