My Church!!!!

Wow! God is so good! I asked Him to show me a place that I can call my home church here in Caracas. I’ve tried so many churches this time and last time around and I didn’t want to have to be the “traveling Christian” any more. It’s so important to have a place not only where I can feel like I belong, but also where I can be apart of what’s happening there. I want to know people at the church and to be apart of ministry there. And I wanted a place where they spoke English – at least a bilingual service – so that I can actually understand the message. So many times I have gone to a Spanish Venezuelan service and it takes so much effort to try to get the main idea, that I find myself zoning out and I don’t go away feeling that God has taught me something. I struggled with this because I know I need and want to learn Spanish, but I decided that this was something that I can’t sacrifice.

So, today God sent me to The United Christian Church – “An International Interdenominational Congregation”. When I found out it was called United, I was immediately discouraged because I was thinking of the denomination United, and I started to prepare myself for what may lie ahead. But you know, I felt soooo peaceful and soooo welcome there, it blew me away!! The service was part liturgical with the readings and choir and hymns, and part upbeat music with electric guitar, drums – and get this – a cello!!! I loved it because it was so different and it had the South American warmness but in English! I felt so at home, and the most important – that I belong.

I went out to lunch with the pastor and his wife and a few others and it was so great! About three or four different couples asked for my number and I’m looking forward to what will come out of this new network of believers!!! Thank you God for always going above and beyond what I ever ask or expect. Ephesians 3:20-21: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” God, you always surprise me.
